I’ve never had bitters before, what are they?

Bitters are a wonderful world of flavor! They add depth, aroma and complexity to drinks of all kinds - not just cocktails. You apply them by the drop so it’s easy to dial in flavor. Bitters are traditionally spirit-based, meaning they contain alcohol. But, much like vanilla extract, they are always used in small quantities. Because of this they are treated as a food product, a flavoring - again, like vanilla extract!

Are bitters… Bitter?

Yes, they are! But our bitters aren’t just bitter. They are layered expressions of the flavor you’re buying. So you’ll encounter light floral, bright citrus, curious herbal flavors along with those deep bitter notes. We craft our flavors this way so the experience hits on all levels of your palate, making for a rounder and more enjoyable drinking experience. And since they come in a dropper bottle, you get to decide how much flavor you want!

I received my order and the packing material looks like trash. Did you pack my order in trash?

Yes! Only clean trash, though. There’s no point throwing away all the packing material that just comes to us: label backing, box filling, the NYTimes, and the occasional AirPak! - just to then buy more packing material to keep your order safe. Frankly, it’s unsustainable. Let’s give that trash another life before it goes to the recycling plant or the landfill!

How will my order be shipped?

Since retail orders are usually a pound or less, we use USPS. If you have trouble getting shipments from the Postal Service, please email us before you order.

I made an order for contactless pick up in Portland, but I don’t see an address anywhere. Where do I go?

You’ll receive the address when your pick up is ready in a slightly cryptic email generated by this website. You’ll then get a follow up email that is prettier and more to the point! Your order will be on the porch with your name and order number on it, available any time from 9am-7pm. We’re not trying to be mysterious (this time) - we don’t post the address so you only make the trip when your order is waiting for you.
